Meet the Directors

ALEX BLANZY
Morley/Stanwood Program Director
Alex has been a dedicated part of Huntey’s Clubhouse for over 10 years, building strong relationships with children and families. Her passion for early childhood education began in high school, where she babysat and completed the Career Center’s Early Childhood Education course. She holds a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and is currently working toward her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, set to graduate in 2026.
Originally from Reed City, Alex now lives in Remus with her husband of nearly 10 years and their four children. Fun fact—she and her husband met on a co-ed softball field, and today, they live right next to the house where he grew up! While most of her time is spent with her kids, nieces, and nephew, Alex has recently picked up reading—though only books that can hold her attention! She is passionate about creating a warm, supportive environment where children can learn and grow.

Her journey led her to Huntey’s Clubhouse, where she began as an assistant teacher and worked her way up to her current role as Director.
She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education at Central Michigan University after transferring from Mid-Michigan College in January 2025. Originally from the Big Rapids area, Shelby now calls Mount Pleasant home, where she lives with her boyfriend, Owen, and their goldendoodle, Pretzel. As the youngest of three siblings, she is also a proud aunt to four nieces and one nephew. Outside of work, Shelby enjoys hiking, sewing, baking, cooking, running, exploring farmers markets, traveling to new towns, spending time with family, and camping.

Being in this role is incredibly rewarding—it’s so much more than just a job. The connections I’ve built with every child and staff member mean the world to me, and I hold them close to my heart. Not a day goes by that I’m not smiling ear to ear because of the joy this career brings me. I feel truly grateful to be in a field where I can make a difference every day and give out so much love. Huntey’s Clubhouse is such a special place—more than just a job, it’s a community filled with joy, love, and meaningful connections. Every day brings new moments of laughter, learning, and the pure happiness that comes from working with children.

Favorite Children’s Book: The Color Monster: A Pop-Up Book of Feelings or Nibbles the Book Monster
I have enjoyed learning an entirely new career. It's been fun to merge some of my child welfare training into the education I've gained from my CDA class and then applying it into the center. I wear many hats—whether that's providing support to our team, playing and redirecting the kids, or speaking with parents. I genuinely enjoy being here and a part of Huntey’s Clubhouse. I enjoy being part of a team that has gone through some drastic changes and seeing the center move toward a more positive direction together. Rebuilding relationships with the community and the staff has been fun to see, and receiving the positives from parents keeps us moving forward.
