Howard City

Early Learning & Child Care Center – Preschool – School Age

Our Howard City location opened 2020 in the Panhandle Center, formerly known as a campus for Montcalm Community College. Our goal at Huntey’s Clubhouse is to nurture and support the development and education of children. With care from six weeks to 12 years old, we value every child and take their wellbeing seriously. You can be confident your child will thrive in a positive and nurturing environment with qualified and supportive team members.

The building has a total of five classrooms and a PSAC building, offering early learning and child care for infants through school age children. All classrooms utilize a research-based curriculum and development program, where every month has its own theme. We invite you to learn more about our early learning philosophy here. Each age group has an outdoor space to play and explore. Some features of our outdoor area include a slide, balance beam, ride-on toys, and a sandbox.

Infant care begins at six weeks of age. Babies enjoy developmentally appropriate toys, tummy time, and socializing in a safe environment. Parents regularly receive updates on Procare about the baby’s day, including diaper changes, on demand meals, bottles and more. When it is time to naturally transition, usually around 12 months, the child will move into the Waddler then Toddler classrooms. Their daily routines consist of meal and snack times, rest time, indoor and outdoor play-based learning, and educational activities that incorporate a monthly theme. Activities are focused on building motor skills, communication and language development, creativity, and social-emotional skills.

When appropriate, the child will move into the preschool program, The Preschool Academy, which offers 3 year old Preschool as well as two classrooms of GSRP Pre-K. There are many outlets for creative expression, including games, songs, movement, and art, that let your child build skills and confidence. We encourage student growth with individual and group activities in a structured environment as they prepare for the kindergarten classroom. If you’re interested in our preschool programs, please visit The Preschool Academy.

For School Age children up to 12 years old, we have Before and After care as well as a Summer Program. Students have the opportunity to work on homework, socialize and play. We believe it is important for kids to get outdoors (weather permitting) and enjoy the fresh air, where they can play games/sports, read, and connect with nature. Buses from Tri County Public Schools pick up and drop off students.

We thrive on a strong sense of community and our caregivers are a major part of our success. Not only are our team members caring and attentive, they have specialized training in Early Childhood Education. In addition to company policies and procedures, all team members go through CPR and first aid, state-specific licensing training, fire safety and sanitation regulations. Annually, they complete certified ongoing training and many have additional degrees in Early Childhood Education.

On a typical day, kids have two meals and two to three snacks. We strive to provide nutritious foods that children enjoy eating. When creating our menu, ensuring a proper balanced diet is essential to provide the nutrition and energy that children need to grow and develop. Each day, breakfast will consist of a whole grain, milk, or fruit. Lunch will consist of a grain, protein, vegetable, fruit, and fluid milk. Snacks contain combinations of whole grain options with a protein, fruit, or vegetable. Learn more about our approach to nutrition here.

At Huntey’s Clubhouse, family is important. We strive to create an atmosphere where cultural traditions, values, and diversity of families are acknowledged and honored. We work together to create respectful relationships and ensure the best services for the children and for the families. An important aspect of this is communication. We use Procare to stay in connected with parents. Procare is an incredible user-friendly Smart Phone app (also available online). Everything from snacks to diaper changes are logged into the real-time feed. In addition to daily updates, Clubhouse communication, check-in/out and updated documents are completed through the app. All tuition payments are transacted via Procare, whose platform accepts all major credit/debit cards and ACH/bank accounts.
